ICA:UK - developing your capacity for participation & partnership through facilitation, training and consulting

Our Structure

ICA:UK comprises a network of around 100 individual and family members, living and working in a diverse range of settings across the UK and abroad. Read our history to learn how we came to be, and about our membership network to find out about the benefits of membership and how to join us.

Our charitable company

ICA:UK was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee (no. 3970365) in England and Wales on 11 April 2000, and registered as a charity (no. 1090745) with the Charity Commission on 21 February 2002. Our registered office is at 41 Old Birley Street, Manchester M15 5RF.

ICA:UK is governed by a Board of Trustees elected from among the membership at the Annual General Meeting.

Our staff and associates

Within this structure ICA:UK employs four full-time and part-time staff. They are based at our office in Manchester, and at home in London. Contact us.

The staff administer, develop and expand our activities and network, in line with our mission and strategic plan. To accomplish this, the staff aim to catalyse and facilitate contributions of time and expertise from associates from among the wider membership network, on a voluntary and/or contract basis.

Our charitable objects

The registered charitable objects of ICA:UK are:

  • advancing the education of the public in the UK and in any part of the world in matters relating to the relief of poverty and distress; and
  • the relief of need, hardship and distress in any part of the world; and
  • advancing the education of the public in the United Kingdom and in any part of the world, but without limitation to the generality of the foregoing, in effective communication and facilitation skills and participatory methods to enable individuals to participate more effectively in societies, communities and organisations.

These objects are carried out by means of four main activities.
