ICA:UK’s most popular Group Facilitation course.

This is our core course, taken by more than 200 people each year. You will learn the theory of the Technology of Participation methods and practice using them in a supportive learning environment. The course is interactive and fun, and 93% of Group Facilitation Methods participants rate the course 8/10 or higher.

This course offers:

  • Two versatile Technology of Participation (ToP) techniques for structuring group conversations that work, and making group decisions that will turn into action
  • Interactive course design so that you develop skills, share experiences and gain an in-depth understanding of the principles behind the methods
  • More than 50 years of ICA experience in community development, consensus-building, and participation
  • Recognition by the ILM. Participants are eligible for an ILM Development Award.

Times and Dates

The course will be delivered in 8 x 2.25 hour sessions, with two sessions being held each day, spread over two weeks. The morning session will be from 09.30 to 11.45 UK time, and the afternoon session from 13.00 to 15.15 UK time. Please ensure you can attend ALL the dates below both the morning and afternoon sessions.

There will also be an optional 90-minute surgery with your trainer to be scheduled after the course for you to discuss your learning and anything you need help with.

Special Exemption Ticket
We are able to offer a small number of subsidised tickets for those who may struggle to pay the full rate. This includes people from small community or voluntary organisations (less than 20 employees) or those self-funding who are on a below median annual household income (currently around £30,000). Please be aware you will be asked to provide justification during checkout. ICA:UK reserves the right to charge the full fee for those who do not meet our criteria.
