In August 2026 the Mukogodo Girls Empowerment Programme (MGEP) conducted a seven-day Youth Empowerment Camp, bringing together 247 young people from 11 villages within Laikipia North, part of Laikipia County, north of Mount Kenya.

The camp was organized as part of activities to commemorate International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples and International Youth Day, and focused on leadership, career development, health and wellbeing, gender equality, prevention of harmful practices, substance abuse, environmental conservation and cultural identity.
